We’ll trace the details of the steam locomotive and rails before exploring techniques to render the ironwork of the train and rails, the rocky railroad bed and the engulfing steam.

One of my most memorable watercolor experiences was painting this abandoned Arkansas barn while a rainstorm approached. We’ll trace the image onto our stretched papers before exploring various drybrush techniques to enhance the weathered siding and dark shadows on this barn.

Come paint his funky pumpkin. This class has lists of options, you can use a palette knife as I did in the photo, or you can use a brush for a smoother look. You can go for the fun blue or traditional orange. We can leave out the vines and write thankful or grateful. The painting is done on a 6x6 1.5 canvas perfect for sitting on a shelf or table. We will also paint the sides and seal the painting with an acrylic layer. Please reserve your spot by September 23. All materials are included.

This bluff welcomes visitors to Georgia O’Keeffe’s Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico. It was a pleasure painting this on site. Even more, I enjoy teaching how to watercolor this composition. We’ll trace the outlines and mark off the various pattens before painting the rich contrast between the warm terrain and the cool sky.
